Posted on 01/09/2019
TOTYDonald Schad has been a teacher with the Douglas County School System for over a decade.  After obtaining his bachelor’s degree from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania, he took a teaching post outside of Washington, DC.  While working as an educator he was offered a position with the National Education Association (NEA). This job afforded him the opportunity to utilize his teaching abilities, as well as business aptitude learned after earning his MBA, to educate customer sales representatives interfacing with NEA members all over the country.

Since coming to Georgia he has exclusively taught fifth grade. In 2013, Mr. Schad earned his specialist degree and has been able to see the positive results in the classroom of employing brain-based learning.

Mr. Schad has served as team leader in several schools, been the sponsor of the Georgia Stock Market Club and the school flag patrol, and has functioned, alternately, as the math and social studies representative for his school. Mr. Schad has also served as the NEA representative for South Douglas in the past.

Married to his wife Lisa for over 20 years, the couple has three children. Their son Jamie has recently graduated from Douglas County High School, daughter Hannah attends Fairplay Middle School and daughter Emma is a student at South Douglas Elementary School.
