TOTY

Christine Reeves grew up in Douglas County and is a proud graduate of Douglas County High school. She has come a long way from playing “school” in the basement of her childhood home to pursuing her dream of teaching. Christine earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Georgia State University, a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Mercer University, Education Specialist from Nova Southeastern University, and has her gifted endorsement. Christine is married and has one daughter who currently attends the University of West Georgia. She is fortunate to have her entire family reside in Douglas County. With their love and continuous support, she continues to pursue her love of teaching.

Christine has been blessed to be part of the Bear Cub family at South Douglas Elementary for 24 years. She is very active within her school, where she serves on many committees. Christine has also performed many leadership roles such as, team leader, mentor teacher, supervisor to college students, as well as lead science club and math marvels. She has taught grades first through fourth and has truly enjoyed every moment. She currently teaches third grade reading and looks forward to the new adventures that each day brings. She believes that all children have the potential to learn and will succeed when given the right tools and encouragement. She has a strong desire to create a love of learning among her students but is also grateful to her students for helping her to become a better teacher and person. Her favorite quote to live by is from Maya Angelou-”I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will not forget how you made them feel.”
