USDA has approved free meals at all schools for all children 0-18 years old. Douglas County
School System School (DCSS) Nutrition began serving free meals as of September 1, 2020, at no
charge to the students based on the extended eligibility of the Seamless Summer Option, which
expires on December 31, 2020, or until funding is no longer available. Students attending school
in-person are eligible for Breakfast and Lunch at no cost during the school day. Students who
are attending school virtually only are eligible for curbside pick-up on Mondays from 4:00-6:00
PM (pre-ordered through school café). Pre-ordering dates are the week before the pick-up day,
from Monday through Thursday. Parents will need to add funds to School Cafe if they would
like for their student(s) to have second helpings and ala carte snacks like cookies and chips.
Please complete meal applications through School Cafe to determine eligibility and to ensure
your student may continue benefits when this temporary program ends.
School Nutrition works hard every day to ensure students receive fresh and quality meals with
student safety as a priority. We are excited that the USDA has extended this program to feed
hungry children in our community. With the support of the Superintendent Trent North and
DCSS Board Members, we intend to Fuel our Future of Douglas County.
